Cozy Fall Family Portraits at Home with a 3-Month-Old in Stoughton
Newborns and young infants grow so quickly, and there is something incredibly special about documenting those early months. This beautiful family welcomed me to their home in Stoughton for a relaxed portrait session with their cheerful 3-month-old daughter. By combining outdoor portraits with cozy photographs inside their home, we were able to capture a wonderful variety of images while keeping everyone comfortable.
Embracing the Beauty of a Chilly Fall Day
Although the weather was far colder than typical for the season, this family embraced the experience. Late fall in New England offers some of the year's most beautiful scenery, with rich autumn colors creating a timeless backdrop for family portraits.
We began the session on the front lawn of their home, where the remaining fall foliage added warmth and texture to every photograph. Mom and Dad kept their wardrobe simple and timeless, choosing casual jeans and cozy sweaters that complemented both the season and the relaxed feel of the session. Their coordinated outfits allowed the focus to remain exactly where it belonged—on the love they share as a family.
Keeping Baby Comfortable Throughout the Session
With a 3-month-old, comfort always comes first. After spending time outdoors, we moved inside where everyone could warm up while continuing the session in the comfort of their living room.
One of the wonderful advantages of an in-home family session is the flexibility it provides. Babies can stay warm, feed when needed, and relax in familiar surroundings, making it much easier to capture natural expressions and genuine interactions.
The Sweetest Smiles
The highlight of the session was undoubtedly their baby girl. Dressed in an adorable pink sweater, she was full of bright smiles and happy expressions throughout the afternoon. At just three months old, her cheerful personality was already shining through, making it easy to capture authentic moments between her and her parents.
These are the little moments that families often remember most—the way a baby smiles at Mom, curls up in Dad's arms, or simply looks around with curiosity. They may seem ordinary today, but they quickly become treasured memories as children grow.
Why Consider an In-Home Family Session?
Many parents wonder whether they need to choose between outdoor portraits and photographs at home. The wonderful thing is that you don't have to.
Combining both locations allows us to enjoy beautiful seasonal scenery while also creating intimate portraits in the place where your family's story unfolds every day. Especially when photographing young babies, this flexibility helps create a relaxed experience while producing a gallery filled with both classic portraits and meaningful lifestyle images.
If you're considering family portraits with a new baby, don't let cooler temperatures discourage you. Even on chilly days, we can create beautiful outdoor portraits before moving indoors where everyone can stay warm and comfortable.
